Very cool! Love the little nuances you added in for a little extra flare. Nice production quality too

Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it and noticed the detail :D

This sounds very immersing. Feels like I'm lost in a jungle and some predatory type thing is about to kill me. Nice work! Always enjoy hearing your pieces!

awardwinninggardens responds:

Glad you're having associations like that, thank you kindly :)

I think the musicianship/writing is really solid, however the mixing (in my opinion) needs some work. It's very muddy and a lot of things blur together. I know it's a WIP so I'm not trying to judge too hard so forgive me if what I'm about to suggest you're already aware of. (I don't know how long you've been using Fl Studios.

1. The drums really seem far in the background. Only really the cymbals standout. The kick and snare aren't really seperated. Almost they're gain-staged much lower in the mix. I personally like a beefy kick to stand out and a snappy snare. Are the drums parallel compressed? They could really help things stand out. Several youtube tutorials on it if you need to know how.

2. Doesn't seem to be a lot of low end. Is there bass recorded yet? Would definitely like to hear some boomy bass and tight low in, to really round out the mix.

3. The guitars aren't really "clear". I can make out certain riffs and notes, and from what I'm hearing, it sounds like you're writing is really good. I certainly like the structure so far and the high energy of the song. But really wanna hear the guitar (and for that matter each separate instrument) cutting through the mix a bit better.

For a WIP, this is a good start. I would love to hear this as a final mix/master! Keep it up!

Dadlur responds:

Thank you for the short review! The entire point of the ep is to sound like it's recorded on a 4 track cassette recorder in a bassement somewhere, so the poor sounding mix is intentional rather than a lack of skill. Thanks again.

Very awesome stuff! Nice mixing too!

BeyondOurEyes responds:

Thanks so much, glad ya dig!

Music is a good start. I think the drums could hit a lot harder though in my opinion. I'm all for twisted shit, lyrically, but at least try and be poetic about it man lol. I see what you're going for, but it's honestly like you didn't even try. I think if you re-address your mix, and spent more time on the lyrics, this could be something cool.

This was just a shit post. You should check out my serious work. https://malecpayne.bandcamp.com/ Feedback is appreciated :D

I like the concept, but I think the mixing could use some work. The drums are clipping quite a bit, and I think you need to remix some levels and check some low end as well. But as this is the first thing I've heard from you, I'd say it's a solid start! 4.5 stars and scouted! Keep it up

imasnek responds:

Thanks, and you're right, the drums are definitely clipping. Overall, I think the mastering of this song is very rough around the edges and needs some work, Which stinks, because the way a song is mastered can be a make or break situation. And I only have like, an hour in my day to work on music because of my schedule, so it's no secret that this song was rushed. The 4.5 star rating is actually very generous considering the quality of some of my content, lol.

Edit- Finally found some time to get this song redone! Hope I did well! lmao

Love the vibes on this one. Gives me some old school emotion/energy with some modern day edge. Well done

dhudson907 responds:

Certainly our most 'metal' metal song so far, glad you like it!

Very nice! Love the build ups here

awardwinninggardens responds:

Much obliged!

This sounds awesome! I really like the backing beat. I wish I could get as comfortable with Serum as this. Great work

EDIT: Congrats on another well deserved FP!

SpeedoRH responds:

Haha thanks man! Serum is a bit confusing, but if you use it for a while (and sometimes with the help of presets), it becomes a very strong tool!

And also, thank YOU for contributing to this with your support! It means so much to me :D

I love the atmosphere in this one. It ebbs and flows very beautifully. Excellent work!

SpeedoRH responds:

Thank you so much man! Atmosphere was my biggest focus on this song, so your kind words have really reassured me.

Thx again! <3
